Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives voted in favor of a transfer of 100 acres of land from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to the city of Fruit Heights in Davis County. Co-sponsored by Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) and Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah), the Fruit Heights Land Conveyance Act, H.R. 993, is Stewart’s first piece of legislation to pass the House. Washington, D.C. (June 7, 2013) – Today, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced their proposal to remove the gray wolf from the list of threatened and endangered species. This proposal would leave future management and conservation efforts to states for all gray wolf populations in the lower 48 states with the exception of the southwestern Mexican gray wolf. This announcement comes after the delisting of wolves in the Great Lakes and Rocky Mountain States earlier this year. Read more »

Jones (NC-3) and 15 of his colleagues asked the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to thoroughly assess the impact of its proposed Critical Habitat Designation for loggerhead sea turtles, which it issued on March 25, 2013, under the Endangered Species Act.
