Mining and Critical Minerals

The Congressional Western Caucus recognizes the growing demand for hardrock and critical minerals that are essential to our modern way of life. As our country continues to invest in and explore alternative forms of energy, storage, and electric technologies so increases the dependency for these minerals. Demand for critical minerals will be met somehow – either from countries with responsible mining and refining practices, or from suppliers who permit unacceptable labor conditions and who have minimal concern for environmental impacts. Our Members believe these mineral resources should be developed domestically and in conjunction with our allies to ensure minerals will be sourced in a safe, sustainable manner for decades to come.
