Tipton Urges Extension of Vital Specialty Crops Programs

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Scott Tipton (CO-03) joined 54 of his House colleagues in a letter to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas and Ranking Member Collin Peterson to request the continuation of specialty crop research and pest management programs that impact almost half of the U.S. agriculture economy, including many Colorado farmers. The letter asks for the continuation of current specialty crop programs in any extension of the Farm Bill.

Washington, D.C., Nov 16 - Republican Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents Arizona’s Sixth District, today decried the decision by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement costly and unnecessary air pollution controls at the AEPCO Apache Generating Station near Benson, the APS Cholla Power Plant near Joseph City, and the SRP Coronado Generating Station near St. Johns. The move by the EPA would require the installation of more than $500 million in equipment to regulate “regional haze,” or visibility at national parks and wilderness areas. These upgrades will do little to actually improve visibility.
