Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) and Peter Welch (D-Vt.) are leading a bipartisan group of over 75 House members urging House leaders to bring the Farm Bill (H.R. 6083) to a vote before August. The House Agriculture Committee passed the Farm Bill by a strong bipartisan vote of 35 to 11 on July 12th.

Colorado Delegation Asks FEMA to Extend Additional Support to Fire Victims

The entire Colorado Congressional delegation today asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to expand the major Presidential disaster declaration to include housing support, small business disaster loans, and other individual assistance for victims of the Colorado wildfires in El Paso and Larimer Counties. The letter to FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate details the destruction caused by the wildfires and the need for additional federal support.

Gallegly amends DoD bill to increase firefighting capabilities

Elton Gallegly (R-CA) today added an amendment to the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2013, that would reactivate four first-generation Modular Airborne FireFighting System (MAFFS) units and add two new aerial dispersal units to the U.S. Forest Service’s firefighting arsenal.
