LaMalfa, Arrington Celebrate Passage of Budget Resolution

Washington, February 25, 2025 | Eli Mansour (202 510-8612)

Today, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) and House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statements following passage of H.Con.Res. 14, the House Budget Resolution.

“This budget resolution is a critical step toward restoring fiscal responsibility and reining in Washington’s out-of-control spending,” said Chairman LaMalfa. “By moving toward a balanced budget, we can put money back into the pockets of Americans instead of fueling more debt and inflation. It’s time to prioritize policies that grow the economy, cut waste, and ensure a stronger financial future for the American people. I look forward to the next steps in the reconciliation process to build on this progress and deliver results.”

“One small step for our Republican Conference, one big leap for the American people,” said Chairman Arrington. “By passing the resolution on the House floor tonight, Republicans have taken a crucial step in fulfilling the mandate assigned by the American people when they reelected President Trump and delivered a Republican majority in Congress. This budget resolution provides the fiscal framework for what will be one of the most consequential pieces of legislation in modern history and the principal legislative vehicle for President Trump’s America First agenda. House Republicans are doing their job to cut taxes for hardworking families and small businesses, support our law enforcement at the border, bolster our military, unleash American energy dominance, and right-size our wasteful, oversized bureaucracy. President Trump asked for a comprehensive bill to implement the FULL America First agenda, and that's exactly what Republicans in the House of Representatives have delivered. I urge my Senate colleagues to immediately adopt our budget blueprint so Congress can get to work on the reconciliation process that will usher in the Golden Age of America.”

The reconciliation process will focus on Western Caucus priorities including:

  • Implementing mandatory onshore and offshore leasing
  • Rolling back land lockups that block resource development and other activities
  • Limiting future use of Resource Management Plan’s and Antiquities Act designations that have been abused by the Obama and Biden Administrations
  • Unlocking American mineral resources on public lands
  • Promoting improved forest management and increased timber sales
