Today, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) and House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Environment Chairman Morgan Griffith (VA-09) released these statements following the successful markup of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s portion of the budget reconciliation package.

“The budget resolution will deliver domestic energy dominance for the American people,” said Chairman LaMalfa. “I want to thank the House Energy and Commerce Committee for advancing provisions that rein in wasteful Green New Deal spending and overturn onerous Biden administration mandates. This bill fulfills President Trump and House Republicans’ promise to increase domestic energy production and provide energy security.”

“House Republicans are one step closer to delivering a bill to President Trump that unlocks reliable, affordable and secure energy for American households,” said Rep. Griffith. “By ditching Green New Deal-style EV mandates, American industry can help strengthen our nation’s economic and energy prosperity. American energy dominance will be the envy of the world.”

This bill includes provisions to:

  • Expedite the U.S. Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export process
  • Rescind wasteful Green New Deal spending
  • Halt funding for environmental and climate justice block grants
  • Support vehicle consumer choice by ending Biden-era electric vehicle mandates
  • Refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which President Biden drained for political purposes
  • Establish certainty for cross-border energy infrastructure
