Chairman LaMalfa Statement on House Passage of Budget Reconciliation Package

Today, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) released the following statement following House passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill.

“Today, we delivered on an America First legislative agenda which includes major wins for rural America and the West. Importantly, this bill keeps taxes in check while maintaining deductions for farms and other businesses that reinvest in their own equipment and production,” said Chairman LaMalfa. “Passing it to the President’s desk means increased production of domestic natural resources, such as timber from overcrowded forests, and oil and natural gas from our untapped subsurface reservoirs. With increases to risk coverage and farm insurance to support our farmers and ranchers, Rural America will not be left behind as it was by Democrats and the Biden Administration.”

Background:

  • Strengthens Timber & Farming: Expands timber harvesting and strengthens crop insurance and conservation tools, without adding red tape.
  • Water Storage Expansion: Invests $1 billion to upgrade and expand water storage and fix canals, helping the West store and deliver more water in wet years.
  • Energy & Resource Development: Repeals Green New Deal-style handouts, expands onshore and offshore oil and gas leasing, and mineral production.
