Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01), Vice Chair Harriet Hageman (WY-AL) and Representative Nick Begich (AK-AL) released statements celebrating House passage of resolutions to disapprove and rollback three Biden-era energy policies that served as roadblocks to American energy production.
“This week the House voted to roll back three more Biden-era roadblocks that throttled American energy,” said Chairman LaMalfa. “These resolutions open the door for coal, oil, and gas producers to do what they do best: power our nation, keep costs down, and strengthen our energy independence. Washington shouldn’t be shutting down production in places like Wyoming and Alaska at a time when the country needs reliable energy. By overturning these restrictions, we’re putting our resources back to work, restoring local decision-making, and advancing an energy strategy that actually makes sense for America. I want to thank Representatives Hageman and Begich for their leadership in overturning these misguided rules. Their work helps reopen areas that should have never been taken offline in the first place and puts American energy on a stronger path.” “The House’s passage of H.J. Res. 130 is a major win for Wyoming and for America’s energy security. The Biden administration’s Buffalo RMPA ended future coal leasing in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin, threatening thousands of jobs, undermining local communities, and jeopardizing affordable, reliable energy for millions of Americans,” said Vice Chair Hageman. “Wyoming coal powers this country, and once this misguided, ideologically driven policy is overturned, we can better meet our nation’s growing energy demands.” “H.J. Res. 131 and S.J. Res. 80 are crucial steps toward restoring America’s energy security and unlocking Alaska’s vast energy potential” said Congressman Begich. "For too long, federal overreach has sidelined responsible development in some of the most resource-rich lands in the United States. By reversing these harmful Biden-era restrictions, we are unleashing American energy dominance and ensuring that our nation has the reliable, affordable energy it needs to power homes, our communities, and a growing economy.” The House passed three Congressional Review Act bills on November 18th, 2025 to overturn the following Biden Administration policies:
